Esbjerg is the 5th largest town in Denmark and is located on the West coast of the Jutland peninsula about 25km NE of Ribe.
The town has a population of more than 70,000. The city was once Denmark's biggest fishing harbor and besides the fishing industry the town is also the main city for Denmark's oil and offshore activities.
The town has a ferry service to Harwich, England via DFDS Seaways, so if you are coming from England by car for a self drive holiday in Denmark you are most likely starting your holiday here.
The town's public road and train service is in top, the train to Copenhagen is running every other hour and the journey only takes about 3 hours.
Some of the tourist attractions the town has to offer are: Fishing Harbour; Fisheries and Maritime Museum; Esbjerg Museum; Holy Trinity Church and Henne Beach.
The beaches here on the Danish West Coast are very popular among the tourists renting holiday houses in Denmark.
